The Preconstruction Expert/Design Engineer will be based out of SEMA’s Denver, Colorado office and will develop and design 3D models and analytics, and participate in the estimating process as a key participant in SEMA's preconstruction services. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design 3D models using Bentley Software Products during project design and enhance throughout construction
  • Participate as a key member of SEMA's preconstruction services team by working directly with Owners and design teams to optimizing project designs
  • Prepare written statement of qualifications and/or proposals that respond directly to project Owners’ requests for qualifications and requests for proposals (technical writing)
  • Evaluate projects for constructibility and value-engineer cost savings
  • Participate in high-level Owner meetings representing SEMA’s preconstruction services team
  • Understand and manage SEMA's risk as part of the proposal preparation process
  • Work with team to close the estimate in HCSS
  • Work on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera Contractor software
  • Work closely with SEMA personnel and other stakeholders to develop strategy, competitive differentiation, and an overall understanding of the project
  • Create detailed cost estimates arranged to follow the pricing format required by the project, as needed
  • Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs
  • Provide high level scoping of the project to create the estimate summary and outsourcing control worksheets
  • Visit project work sites, participate in pre-proposal meetings, clarify scope of work, and prepare RFI's
  • Work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders through the bid process to understand and capture the complete scope of each trade in the scope summary sheets and the estimate at large
  • Accurately utilize project plans and specifications to identify scopes of work, assign crews, schedules, materials and subcontracting opportunities
Job Requirements:
  • 4-year BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in heavy civil design engineering
  • Experience in all aspects of heavy civil work scopes preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience creating 3D models using Bentley Products
  • Advanced technical and analytical skills
  • HCSS (Heavybid Software), Agtek, and Primavera P6 strongly preferred
  • Alternate delivery experience including technical writing skills
  • Sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task
  • Highly productive and willing to manage a busy work schedule independently
  • Superior verbal and written (including technical) communication skills and presentation skills

The Project Engineer will be responsible for projects located within our Rocky Mountain District in south Denver, Colorado.  Project Engineer will assist Project Management in the direction of field responsibilities for both self-performing and subcontracted trades. Major areas of responsibility include:

  • Coordinating with superintendents and foreman to ensure project goals and expectations are met.
  • Assisting Project Manager to assure project compliance with SEMA’s safety policies and OSHA safety standards.
  • Must be able to manage changes in scope of work and be proficient in Viewpoint.
  • Assist with schedule and coordinate with foreman and field personnel with daily schedules including materials, subcontractors, equipment, quality control, etc.
  • Assist project planning to include project definition, scope, resources, and schedule.
  • Assist with baseline schedule from the job estimate.
  • Processes change orders as needed.
  • Assist with contracts and provide customer support on all jobs.
  • Assist and coordinate and delegate timely completion of traffic control plans, equipment mobilization, safety plans, haul road plans, erosion control plans, purchase ordering, job costing, and other duties as required.
  • Coordinate with all sub-contractors for timely completion and quality.
Requirements:
  • Construction Management or Engineering degree from a four-year university
  • Three to five years of project experience in heavy civil construction
  • Experience working with CDOT
  • Proficiency in Viewpoint is preferred
  • Applicant must be a self-starter who operates independently and thrives in a busy environment

A forklift background and some welding experience are preferred. This position is based out of SEMA's Brighton, Colorado location. We are looking for a well experienced mechanic with manual dexterity and great attention to detail. The General Mechanic must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, and small equipment
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
  • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues

Requirements

  • Proven experience as Mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Very good communication skills
  • A problem-solving ability
  • Very good physical strength and stamina
  • High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a benefit
