SEMA Construction, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Registered Land Surveyor for our Rocky Mountain District. Candidate will initially work on projects based in Breckenridge and Montrose, and later to other projects throughout Colorado. Applicant must be experienced in land survey techniques including making exact measurements and determining property boundaries, and providing data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for construction purposes. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Verify mathematical calculations.
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  • Calculate geographic positions from survey data.
  • Gather physical survey data.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
  • Create maps.
  • Direct or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations
  • Calculate geographic positions from survey data
  • Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS)
  • Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features. Survey land or bodies of water to measure or determine features
  • Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements. Survey land or bodies of water to measure or determine features
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation

SEMA Construction, Inc., a large civil construction company, has an immediate opening for an experienced Project Manager with a background in heavy civil construction. The Project Manager will be based in our Centennial, CO office and responsible for projects within our Rocky Mountain District (CO/WY/NE/KS), therefore must be willing to travel. This person will direct the field responsibilities for both self-performing and subcontracted trades. Major areas of responsibility include:

  • Coordinating with superintendents and foreman to ensure project goals and expectations are met.
  • Assure project compliance with SEMA’s safety policies and OSHA safety standards.
  • Must be able to manage changes in scope of work and be proficient in Viewpoint.
  • Schedule and supervise foreman and field personnel with daily schedules including materials, subcontractors, equipment, quality control, etc.
  • Prepare project planning to include project definition, scope, resources, budget, and schedule.
  • Establish baseline schedule from the job estimate.
  • Manage project budget and processes change orders as needed.
  • Negotiate contracts and provide customer support on all jobs.
  • Coordinate and delegate timely completion of traffic control plans, equipment mobilization, safety plans, haul road plans, erosion control plans, purchase ordering, job costing, and other duties as required.
  • Manage all sub-contractors for timely completion and quality.
  • Directs multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements:
  • Construction Management or Engineering degree from a four-year university
  • Minimum of five years of project experience in heavy civil construction
  • Proficiency in Viewpoint a plus
  • Applicant must be a self-starter who operates independently and thrives in a busy environment

The Structural Superintendent will report to the Structural Operations Director and will schedule all earthwork, roadwork, self-performed work, and coordinate field crews through directives given to foremen as well as plan and schedule all requirements to control labor, equipment and material costs. This individual will be responsible for the timely completion of assigned operations and stay within budget. Duties and Responsibilities: •Pre-plan of work activities to meet contract, schedule and quality requirements including safety action plans. •Review all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure the work in the field is built to specifications. •Oversee field personnel, schedules and construction operations. •Manage field operations and coordinate work with other personnel and subcontractors. •Provide leadership and direction to field crew. •Responsible for job performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits and company policies and procedures including training, orientation, discipline, etc. •Emphasize safety, quality and production. •Ensure proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel including PPE and fall protection. •Train and motivates employees. •Perform a variety of administrative tasks including weekly and look ahead schedules, production reports, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders, and updating project files. •May operate heavy equipment and assist with labor when needed. Qualifications: •A minimum of 5+ years' experience in bridge/heavy civil infrastructure or heavy/highway construction industry is preferred. •Knowledge of all aspects of bridge and highway construction. •Desire and willingness to adapt to various work disciplines, contract types and Owners. •Knowledge of occupational hazards. •Ability to read and understand project specific documents including plans, schedules, and specifications. •Ability to keep records and to prepare work and time reports. •Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions. •Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew. •Through knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed. •Strong client relation skills. •Strong verbal and written communication skills. •General knowledge with Microsoft Office. •Must pass drug tests. •Must be authorized to work in the United States. Physical Requirements: •Ability to effectively work outdoors at construction sites. •Ability to frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, lift, bend, and move objects up to 50 pounds. •Willingness to be exposed to all weather conditions including very wet, hot and cold elements.
